Meet the Prosecutor

Prosecutor Peter E. Warshaw, Jr., is a 1983 graduate of the University of Delaware and a 1986 graduate of the Delaware Law School of Widener University.

He began his career with the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office as a law clerk in September of 1986 and was sworn in as an Assistant Prosecutor in September of 1987. Between 1987 and 1991, Mr. Warshaw served in the Juvenile/Family Division, the Trial Division, the Narcotics Unit and the Economic Crimes Unit. In July of 1991, Mr. Warshaw was assigned to the Major Crimes Unit where he supervised arson and environmental crimes investigations. In January 1995, he became Director of the Major Crimes Unit and served in that position until he was appointed First Assistant Prosecutor in January 2006.

Mr. Warshaw has been a certified criminal attorney since March 1997. He served as either Chairman or Co-chairman of the Monmouth Bar Association’s Criminal Practice Committee from 2002-2008. He has been a Trustee of the Monmouth Bar Association since 2007 and the Monmouth Bar Foundation since 2006.

On October 29, 2010, Mr. Warshaw received the Career Advocacy Award for outstanding advocacy over a career from the New Jersey County Prosecutors Association.

On November 22, 2010, Governor Christie nominated Mr. Warshaw to the Office of Monmouth County Prosecutor and, on January 3, 2011, he was appointed Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor by New Jersey Attorney General, Paula Dow. Mr. Warshaw was confirmed by the New Jersey Senate on January 25, 2011 and was sworn in as the Monmouth County Prosecutor on January 31, 2011.

Mr. Warshaw and his wife, Maureen, reside in Middletown with their two children.
