Intelligence Bureau

The Intelligence Bureau, which is part of the Narcotics Investigation Section, is comprised of the Gang Investigation Unit, the Organized Crime Unit, and the Electronic Surveillance Squad.

Gang Investigation Unit

The Gang Investigation Unit was created in January 2006 to address the growing number of gang memberships and violence within Monmouth County. The goal of the Gang Unit is to gather intelligence on every gang that operates locally and/or nationally, and to investigate and prosecute gang violence. The Unit also disseminates acquired gang intelligence to state and local law enforcement agencies.

The Gang Unit is staffed by detectives, who work closely with municipal, county, state and federal law enforcement agencies.

Organized Crime Unit

The Organized Crime Unit, created in March 2006, is staffed by detectives and support personnel. The Organized Crime Unit was established to identify organized crime members operating in Monmouth County, and identify the scope of their criminal activities. The Unit works closely with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, New Jersey State Police Organized Crime Bureau, the Attorney General's Office and the State Criminal Investigations Unit, to prioritize enforcement efforts to disrupt and dismantle organized crime networks operating in Monmouth County and elsewhere.

Electronic Surveillance Squad

The Electronic Surveillance Squad is also contained within the Intelligence Bureau. The Electronic Surveillance Squad provides electronic support for all units within the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office as well as to local, state and federal law enforcement agencies. The Squad is staffed by detectives and support personnel and is instrumental in gathering electronic evidence in criminal and civil investigations.
